Foxford Michael Collins Throw is composed of 100% Wool with a Rolled Fringe measuring 150 cm x 180 cm. Woven in Foxford, it must be Dry Cleaned. Developed in early 1922, it was presented as a Travel Blanket to General Michael Collins to honor his appointment as Commander in Chief of the Irish Army. After the Béal Na Bláth ambush in August 1922, it was found in his armoured car at Shanakiel Hospital by Nurse Nora O'Donaghue and donated to the National Museum. Foxford Woollen Mills has reproduced the original blanket. The classic design is Olive, Gold, and White Melange yarn complemented by a traditional Foxford check. The blanket is crafted from a vintage 4 ply yarn created with quality wool, offering intimate warmth and sturdiness.
